About

Project ACT NOW is a workgroup comprised of local agencies that provide services to individuals experiencing substance use disorder. This includes social service agencies, law enforcement, treatment centers, medical professionals, and mental health practitioners. Along with the local agencies, community members who have been impacted by substance use and misuse are represented.

The workgroup meets monthly to discuss issues related to opioid use and misuse and to take action on the recommendations created by the Washington County Fatality Review Team. Project ACT NOW was instrumental in the implementation of the medication take back program, as well as the increased use of the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP).

Project ACT NOW will utilize the recommendations made by the Governor’s Heroin Taskforce as they continue to respond to the opioid epidemic in Washington County.
